Keisel Fined for Hit On Campbell
Brett Keisel was fined $12,500 for his low hit on Redskins’ quarterback Jason Campbell last Saturday night. Keisel was penalized on the hit that left Campbell bruised but not seriously injured. Campbell stated afterwards that he did not believe that the hit was intentional.
Fines such as these are the reality of the NFL today. Nothing at all indicates that Keisel’s hit was intentional, but the NFL doesn’t factor intent into their decision of whether or not to place a fine. I definitely earned a lot of respect for both players, however, with Keisel taking the time to talk to Campbell when he was leaving the field, and also with Campbell for not using it as an opportunity to call it a cheap shot.
